Quezon City as the City of Stars

Heralded as the City of Stars, Quezon City continues to shine bright—both as a sustainable residential suburb and a bustling industrial hub.

Bearing the same moniker as a former Philippine President, the city was named after President Manuel Luis Quezon, who selected the site in 1939. The area was once a private estate before it was converted into a city.

Today, it is known for being the biggest city in Metro Manila when it comes to land areas. While the city is often confused with a province in Region 4 that bears the same name, Quezon City has distinct and remarkable traits that set it apart from the province.

Living in the most progressive city

With Quezon City regarded as one of the more highly urbanized cities in the Philippines, it is slated to have its businesses grow exponentially in the following years.  It is home to a cross-section of Filipinos, including people working in the information tech industry and the rising OFWs.  In this regard, existing and prospective residents have a lot more to look forward to.

As the city is lovingly referred to as the City of Stars, it should come as no question that several local Filipino stars are billeted in Quezon City as well, considering its proximity to most major studios (TV network juggernauts GMA and ABS-CBN). The general ambience of Quezon City is pretty much like a cross between an exciting cosmopolitan and a thriving industrial hub.

As a result, it attracts individuals with diverse personalities from all walks of life. Indeed, while Quezon is often regarded as the City of the Stars, this multifaceted city can also be considered the city of dreams.

Facts about Quezon City

  • Quezon City was once the capital of the Philippines from 1948 to 1976. In 1948, the city was declared as the country’s capital. However, former President Ferdinand Marcos signed a decree that transferred the title to Manila in 1976.
  • The largest shopping mall in the Philippines and the third largest mall in the world,  SM City North EDSA is located along EDSA in Quezon City.
  • Melchora Aquino is one of the beloved Filipina heroes in the Philippines. Tandang Sora, as she was lovingly called, had a pivotal role in the Katipunan. In recognition of her efforts during the revolution, an entire Quezon City district (and even a street in San Francisco, California) are named after her. She also has her own respective National Shrine in Banlat, Quezon City, her hometown.
  • By far, Quezon City is the largest city in the country—both by area and population. In fact, it is so big that apart from Manila, it is the only city to have its very own police district named after it (QCPD) since day one

Why buy a condo for sale in Quezon City, Metro Manila

If you want to buy a condo, Quezon City has always been one of the best options. Quezon City is one of the most progressive cities, if not the most progressive place in the metro. It might be the most populous city, but the commercial and entrepreneurial opportunities are immense.

High livability

Quezon City is considered one of the most livable cities in the Philippines. According to the London Financial Times’ Ten Asian Cities to live in, Quezon City ranked third, fifth, and tenth in terms of cost-effectiveness, economic potential, and quality of life.

It only means that the economic prospects are high, yet the cost of living is generally low. This is more so compared with other cities in Southeast Asia. These aspects tie with the favorable quality of life that the residents experience. These are also the reasons Quezon City is famous among expatriate residents.

Ease of transportation

As a highly urbanized city, Quezon City is expected to have advanced systems of transportation. To live up to its name as the country’s premier gateway, Quezon City beefed up its existing transportation systems and even has an on-going project for the Metro Rail Transit 7, which is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

Buying a condo for sale in Quezon City means having access to a highly-networked area with the availability of multiple modes of transportation. Its strategic location also makes it easy to go from point A to point B. Even if you work in Makati City, you’ll cherish your home in Quezon City. Also, condos here are more affordable than those condo buildings found in or near the primary CBD.

High real estate value

Quezon City is known to be one of the cities with an enviable zip code in Metro Manila. After all, living in Quezon City is pretty much being in the center of it all and in proximity to practically everything you might ever need.

In this regard, it is inevitable for real estate properties to have a high market value. With Quezon City’s strategic location and accessibility, houses and condos in the area might cost a bit more but will prove worthy investments in the long run.

More than the price range of the condos for sale, residential options abound. There are mid-rise to high-rise condos and townhouses. There are also options for shophouses or residences combined with commercial sections. True enough, you’ll find your preferred residential options, whether that is in Novaliches or Cubao.

Compelling employment and business prospects

With Quezon City’s rapid growth in terms of progress and industrialization, countless local and international companies are headquartered in the city as a result.
